House Passes Paul Ryan’s Budget, Approves Senate Changes to CR

The House of Representatives voted Thursday morning to pass House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan’s budget proposal, which outlines spending levels over the next decade while achieving an annual budget surplus in the year 2023.

The resolution passed 221-207.  It was opposed by all House Democrats in addition to 10 House Republicans.   Reps. Justin Amash (R-Mich.), Paul Broun (R-Ga.), Rick Crawford (R-Ark.), Chris Gibson (R-N.Y.), Phil Gingrey (R-Ga.), Joe Heck (R-Nev.), Walter Jones (R-N.C.), Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), Randy Forbes (R-Va.) and David McKinley (R-W.Va.) opposed the budget….READ MORE

Paul Ryan Says Romney Will ‘Save This Country’

Rep. Paul Ryan, one of the top contenders floated in GOP circles as a potential running mate to Mitt Romney, addressed a sold-out audience Tuesday evening at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation & Library, telling the friendly audience that he believes Romney will “save this country.”
The 42-year-old Wisconsin Republican, who serves as chairman of the House Budget committee, delivered an address titled “A Rendezvous with Reagan’s Legacy: Lessons for 2012.”  In a speech where President Reagan was named at least a dozen times, Ryan contrasted the GOP’s proposals to reform entitlements and taxes with President Obama and the Democrats’ policies….READ MORE
